Ötztaler Ache
Sunday, 27 September 2009

The trail started at the eastern side of the river Ötztaler Ache, and I followed it upriver along the shoreline. The Ötztaler Ache is appoxametly 35 km long and one of Austria's popular wildwaters with it's rapids reaching grade III and IV. Rafting and wildwater cayaking is regularly practiced. This is a little portrait of the river on the way from Ötz to the Weller bridge west of the village Habichen.
Having crossed the bridge I continued on a deep green forrest track. It was hard to believe, that autumn had already started. After twenty minutes or so I reached the Piburg lake.
In the shadow on the left hand side you can already spot the Weller bridge, which is offering a very scenic view of the river.
The rest of the photos were taken on the Weller bridge:

I cannot believe how you caught the light on the water and caught the motion - almost feels like a movie. Absolutely beautiful.

Andre and Doreen, after having seen cayakers hopping with their cayak from a rock into the heart of a grade six rapid on the Zambezi (that's those, where you have to portage with a rubber raft) I am pretty sure these guys returned home safely.

Thank you everybody for your friendly words.

Danke Anke
